Ancient Pueblo Dwellings

Ancient Pueblo Cliff Dwellings

Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado

Although Ancient Pueblo Dwellings is the name preferred by the modern Pueblos for these old dwellings, they are more commonly known as “Anasazi ruins”.  The Navajo started to use the term Anasazi which means “Ancient Enemy” and as the modern Pueblo people claim these ancient people to be their ancestors, the term is disliked by them.

The Ancient Pueblo culture and hence the ancient dwellings occupy the area known as the Colorado Plateau comprising northern Arizona, northern New Mexico, southern Utah and south east Colorado.

Mesa Verde National Park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Thank you for your comments. I aim to blog every week, but I am suffering some technical problems and I am waiting for the developers at Graph Paper Press to resolve the issues.
